I'm a user experience designer currently working in Utah, and I'm trying to get a better feel for the job landscape in Seattle. My husband just got accepted to the MBA program at UW, and before we make any final decisions about whether we should go there, we wanted to find out more about what my job prospects will be like.
Microsoft and the University of Washington’s Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering are co-hosting the Puget Sound Word Usability Day event on November 8th, 2012 at Microsoft Conference Center, Redmond, WA. The topic is centered around consumers and businesses need from financial systems and other systems usability. After the event there are tours available to visit "Inclusive Innovation Showroom" to explore assistive technologies and "Office Design Lab" to know behind the sceens where Microsoft Office is built.

Pardon the crosspost from Facebook, but for those not aware today is GiveBIG, a one-day, online charitable event by The Seattle Foundation that stretches donations made to any of 1,300 Puget Sound area nonprofits.
We're going to be screening a short film called "Connecting" on April 24th, at 7 PM, at Sole Repair in Capitol Hill. The film is about UI, Interaction, & Experience Design, and features interviews with several designers leading in our field. After the film, there will be a discussion panel with Bill Buxton, Rob Girling and Gavin Kelly from Artefact, and Scott Nazarian from frog design.
