IxDA Dublin

Message to the group

Welcome to IxDA Dublin, Ireland.

IxDA Dublin was founded in October 2008, with just 8 members, to provide local Interaction Design practitioners and academics with an outlet to come together, share ideas and build community.

Since then we have been meeting on a monthly basis to discuss and present a range of topics relating to Interaction Design.  Membership of our community has reached the 300 mark.

Our monthly events tend to be informal, where a very social group of local designers discuss, present and host workshops around different themes. Topics covered to date include eye tracking, personas, conference reviews, sketching workshops and innovation trials.

In November 2009 we produced our most ambitious and successful event to date as part of Irish Design week. DEFUSE: Design For Use, featured 13 thought leaders from the IxD field, each presenting their inspiring ideas in the tricky yet entertaining "Ignite" 5 minute format. The event was free, received rave reviews and placed IxD firmly on the Dublin design map.

You are very welcome to join our group. Let us know if you have any questions or comments.

Event description:

The Irish HCI community has continued to grow over the past number of years and has seen much support through the past iHCI conferences, the establishments of the ACM SIGCHI chapter and regular meetings of the Dublin, and more recently, the Limerick Interaction Design Association (IxDA). This coupled with the diversity in the topics and areas that researchers, students and practitioners in Ireland are operating in, makes it a very exciting time for the community.

interaction design projects for entertainment

Hi everybody,

have you ever design and implement some project just for entertainment, maybe using physical computing or something not relate to the web?

I'm curious to see some project (maybe some video on you tube or some slide on slideshare and so on...)

Cheers :)

Welcome to our new home.

Hi All,

I just wanted to say a quick high to all of our members as we transfer over sites.  The old site have a very quite forum, and was mainly used for posting events.  So to get the ball started what is everyone working on.

I'm currently working on a exercise program for retires, comparing a feedback and no feedback group.  We are using heart rate, and gyros to measure peoples performance.

So, What are you up to?
