Event description:

The Irish HCI community has continued to grow over the past number of years and has seen much support through the past iHCI conferences, the establishments of the ACM SIGCHI chapter and regular meetings of the Dublin, and more recently, the Limerick Interaction Design Association (IxDA). This coupled with the diversity in the topics and areas that researchers, students and practitioners in Ireland are operating in, makes it a very exciting time for the community.

To reflect both the growth of the Irish HCI community, and the broad range of research being conducted within Ireland, the theme of this year's conference will be 'Crossing Boundaries'. We welcome submissions exploring, discussing or challenging the many boundaries within our community today: the traditional boundaries between academia and industry; the physical boundaries which influence our work; the boundaries between creativity and code; the boundaries between research and real-world use; and the boundaries between 'traditional' desktop systems and mobile, tangible, or ambient interaction; and pushing boundaries into novel or challenging spaces. More information can be found in the conference's Call for Papers, available in the authors section.

The two-day program will build from the very successful format of 2009 and seeks to provide a national forum through which HCI researchers, practitioners and industry professionals in Ireland can meet, present and discuss their ongoing work. The iHCI 2010 Programme will follow a similar format to the previous conferences and will include an Industry Session (Co-Ordinated by the IxDA Dublin and Limerick Groups), a Student Forum, and a Poster and Demos Showcase along with peer-reviewed short and full paper presentations. We are also delighted to welcome Professor Richard Harper (Microsoft Research) to deliver the opening keynote address.
