User Interface Software Application Designer (UI/UX)

Position Summary

This position is responsible for translating client, business, and user needs into effective UI/UX designs for Web-based software applications by creating all levels of materials required for successful completion of projects; including but not limited to:

• use cases; 
• flows; 
• wireframes; 
• high-level and detailed comps; 
• site maps; 
• navigation; 
• business and technical requirements documents; 
• supporting graphics; 
• prototypes/mock-ups; 
• HTML, Javascript and CSS code; 
• proof –of-concept" demos, 
• online help and other supporting documents.

This position requires working directly with stakeholders from various business units and software developers to ensure accurate implementation of specified design & functionality. 

Skill Set

• Strong understanding of advanced web technologies with a proven ability to develop interactive, user-friendly web-based application UI/UX solutions.
  
  
• 5-6 years experience designing interactive, web-based applications for variety of user levels.
  
  
• Fluent with Adobe Creative Suite applications including:  Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash. Additional familiarity with media creation and editing (e.g. video, audio production) a plus.
  
  
• Solid understanding of design principles: typography, color, composition, usability, web compliant design, and accessibility best-practices (including 508 compliance), etc.
  
  
• Knowledge of software development life cycle, commonly-used concepts, best practices and procedures within a software development environment.
  
  
• Ability to translate business and client requests/needs into Business Requirement and Technical Specification documents.
  
  
• Knowledge of testing on major browsers, cross-browser/platform compatibility issues, industry best practices.
  
  
• Successful track record interfacing and communicating effectively across cross-functional teams (business and technology) with a proven ability to translate business needs into polished web solutions.
  
  
• Excellent organizational, writing, oral communication skills, project management skills.
  
  
• Ability to quickly understand and process new information.
  
  
• Ability to work within tight deadlines on multiple projects and thrive on a fast-paced, changing environment.
  
  
• Enthusiastic team player.
