Senior Web Developer – ESPN3.com
Location: Connecticut
We are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join ESPN3.com’s Product Development team. The Senior Web Developer will participate in the development and evolution of ESPN3.com’s feature set. This position will play a key role on a multi-functional team focused on delivering the best online live sports service available.
Job Responsibilities:
· Develops in Tea, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, AS3, AJAX, Flex, and XML that are used for dynamic web publishing and the display of dynamic, automated database content as well as live event coverage
· Recommends technical decisions for web publishing applications and systems
· Leads in the creation of efficient, reusable and scalable templates used throughout ESPN3.com
· Works with Software Engineering to design and create advanced tools to support production and design functionalities.
· Leads product coordination between design, engineering, and editorial departments and components and manages site-wide projects
· Identifies areas that require improvement, and manages the implementation of solutions
· Mentors junior developers
· Identifies areas for site and product improvement, adding features and functionalities where appropriate
· Establishes, supports, and maintains standards and practices for all web developers across all departments
· Works with and extends the implementation of standard web protocols and procedures
· Oversees the creation of templates and script to ensure their efficiency and optimization
Qualifications for Position:
· Degree in Computer Science or related field, and/or equivalent work experience
· 5+ years related work experience
· Experience with FLASH, ActionScript3 and FLEX required
· Strong experience with Java, servlets and web applications
· Understanding of multi-tier web architectures, and OO design patterns and concepts
· Demonstrated ability to work on a diverse scope of software and database projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment
· Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
· Must demonstrate solid organization/communication skills
· Manage multiple projects within a short development cycle. Projects are larger in scope and fairly complex.
· Experience with digital media workflows and content management systems highly desired
· Experience with browser based live video presentation a plus
