Software Engineer II (ActionScript/FLEX)– ESPN3.com
Location: Connecticut
We are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join ESPN3.com’s Product Development and Operations team. The Software Engineer II will participate in the development and operation of ESPN3.com. This position will play a key role on a multi-functional team focused on delivering the best online live sports service available.
Job Responsibilities:
· Design, develop, test, and implement new ActionScript/FLEX based applications
· Develop new features and functionality for existing applications
· Support the existing infrastructure and applications
· Identify areas that require improvement and recommend/implement solutions
· Provide guidance and training to more junior engineers
· Implements assigned portions of complete development cycles, including requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
· Recommends technical decisions for applications and systems
· Uses resourcefulness and some innovative thinking in applying well established analytical techniques and basic organization skills to evaluating semi-routine alternatives and to developing recommended approaches to assigned problems
· Interacts mainly about semi-routine matters with others in the work group and/or with external customer contacts mainly at peer levels
· Articulates clearly technical findings, issues, and outcomes to team members
Qualifications for Position:
· Degree in Computer Science or related field, and/or equivalent work experience
· 2+ years related work experience
· Strong experience with ActionScript 3, Flex and Flash web applications
· Experience with XHTML, JavaScript, JQuery and CSS
· Understanding of multi-tier web architectures, and OO design patterns and concepts
· Knowledge of Microsoft SQL
· Demonstrated ability to work on a diverse scope of software and database projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment
· Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
· Must demonstrate solid organization/communication skills
· Manage multiple projects within a short development cycle
· Experience with the delivery of live video offerings highly desired
· Experience with Java a plus
