Position Summary

 

As part of a project team, the Software Engineer is responsible for the development of high-quality, high-traffic enterprise web applications, encompassing the design, implementation, and maintenance of application code and database components, as well as all related activities within a web application development process.  The Software Engineer routinely assists in architecture & design, best practices & coding standards and solving difficult technical problems.

 

 

Major Functions

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Implement data-driven enterprise web applications for Fortune 500 clients
  • Assist in gathering technical requirements, determining feasibility, defining scope and generating effort and timelines estimates
  • Configure, improve and maintain client web application infrastructure and environments
  • Execution of best practices including design patterns, Test Driven Development (TDD) and Iterative Development Methodologies

 

Knowledge And Skills Requirements  

  • 5+ years experience designing and developing enterprise level web-based applications using .NET and C#.  Must have extensive .NET 3.5 experience.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design and development with specific experience using and developing with SQL Server.
  • Experience with enterprise or mid-level content management systems.
  • Strong software engineering skills with experience in the creation of software that has a high level of quality, maintainability, and extensibility.
  • Strong understanding of design patterns and ability to solve complex technical design challenges.
  • Strong understanding of best practices, development methodologies, processes, version control & release management.
  • Understanding of and experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) is a plus.
  • Strong passion for technology and software design.
  • Experience with O/R mapping, development frameworks (i.e. MVP, MVC) and tools (i.e. NUnit, MbUnit, NAnt) is a plus.
  • Experience with XML, Web Services, and related standards and technologies.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes, unit testing and automated testing suites.
  • Prior experience in a consulting environment, client services and/or interactive marketing is a plus.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience is required.  A Master’s degree is a plus.
