Moto CXD (Consumer Experience Design) is the Design Studio of Motorola. Its Digital Design studio brings world class interaction and visual design to products (typically Smart Phones) based on the Android platform. This role is highly strategic because Android is the focus of most of Moto’s portfolio.
The Digital Design Studio is also going through a major culture change in the way Moto plans, designs and implements the digital experience of its products. in other words, this team is the tangible confirmation of the strategic intent of Moto to lead in Digital Design and become a design-driven, experience-oriented company.
The Senior Visual Designer in this team will be responsible to develop excellent, innovative visual design for the User Interface of Moto’s Android devices.
The candidate will have a proven record of leading creative visual design in the mobile environment and/or the web, with particular focus on motion graphics and innovation. Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations The Senior Visual Designer will work in coordination with other Visual Design leads in the Chicago Design Studio and will refer to the VP of Digital Design who acts as a Global Creative Director for all the visual design activities on CXD.

Location: Chicago downtown. Specific Knowledge/Skills •10+ years in industrial, user interface or web design

•Project, Relationship and Design Management skills
•Expert knowledge of Design and Process Methodology
•Refined creative processes and skills
•Ability to contribute to and foster innovation in others
•Excellent people-management skills
•Proactive in managing geographically diverse teams
•Excellent presentation skills
•Ability to manage by influence
•Ability to partner with Senior Managers outside of CXD organization
•Understanding of Wireless Communications industry and Motorola Business drivers
•An ability to understand and communicate customer needs and business strategies
•Strong ability to articulate usability and experience issues and drive common understanding with work partners inside and outside the organization
•Negotiation skills and experience applying them to close critical business issues
•Undergraduate degree in a design-related field
•Graduate degree preferred (MBA an advantage)
•A passion for usability and innovation in mobile devices
