IGBU Curriculum Development and Documentation Department

The IGBU Curriculum Development and Documentation Department supports the Software Development team which is division of the Insurance Global Business Unit.  We work closely with developers, business analysts and quality assurance to develop comprehensive training programs and documentation.  In this dynamic environment you will need to be able to work as an individual contributor as well as within a team.  The department and position is in Bala Cynwyd, PA.

The Technical Writer creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. The Technical Writer contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.

As a member of the technical writing division, you will design, create and deliver whole product documentation sets and/or related courseware. Edit, organize and direct the work activities of other technical writers and staff. Plan the format, arrange the layout of publications and edit work for conformance to publication standards and specifications.

The Sr Technical Writer’s primarily focus is to design documentation and other design deliverables the Insurance Global Business Unit. The person will be responsible for working with the technical development team supporting development of both high and low level application technical design deliverables and other presentation materials describing system functionality. Under minimal supervision, lead phases of the documentation development life cycle, including front-end analysis of system releases for the purpose of writing documentation for use by our clients. This position will work on updates and documentation as needed to include technical manuals, release notes, user guides, quick references and reference material. Ensure documentation content is accurate and corresponds to the application correctly by testing the documentation against the use of Oracle Insurance applications for accuracy and validity.

    * Ability to understand complex software technologies and document them from the ground up

    * Must posses a strong interview technique as well as excellent communication skills.

    * Must be able to work in Bala Cynwyd, PA

    * Ability to consistently meet deadlines and deliver high-quality materials.

    * Work closely with the training department to leverage content creation redundancy.

A candidate for this position will work extensively with our development team to document the most technical aspects of our products. Extensive knowledge of the enterprise technologies used to in our product development, such as J2EE, is essential. Experience working with extensibility frameworks is also a plus. Development skills are preferred with the ability to write clearly enough to work with other technical writers that will edit and format technical content that this position will handed off.
