The User Interface Designer will research and understand the changing needs of our mobile customer base to build effective web-based and mobile-based applications driving adoption and usage of Vonage services. The individual will be responsible for the look, feel and overall user experience for our consumer applications. The Product Manager will champion the customer experience and serve as the interfact for Vonage for customers and partners, providing leadership and vision across cross-functional teams.
He/She will be responsible for presenting, refining, specifying and potentially integrating work with IT, marketing, and operations – all within specified guidelines and timelines. The successful candidate will be able to strategically design the customer experience, identify all potential customer scenarios, and write flow diagrams to share with agencies, web teams, marketing and vendors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Conduct user requirement analysis to identify key current and future customer needs. • Drive design strategy, project approach and scoping. • Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, interaction flows, and visual mockups to effectively communicate product intent. • Effectively communicate product usability issues and design options to team members and leadership. • Lead interaction design through the development lifecycle, from initial exploration through final design deliverables such as use cases, task flows, user interface elements, and documenting detailed design sepcs for development and QA. • Ensure all Design and Usability needs are executed on time and at a high standard. Proactively obtain feedback and information to drive design decisions. • Set priorities, manage scope and provide actionable guidance to ensure delivery. • Advocate consistency of user interface design while fostering consensus and understanding of the customer-centric intersection between Design, Usability, Content, Business and Marketing viewpoints. Participate as a key contributor to a multi-disciplinary team that includes other product managers, interactive design agencies and creative talent to transform cool ideas into usable, market-leading applications.
There will be occasional travel
3-5 years of experience designing usable interfaces for web/mobile sites, web/mobile applications and software products
Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design, as well as fundamental usability principles. Strong understanding of user-centered design process, Human Factors design.
Quickly understand broad strategic concepts, capable of focusing on the details level to weigh options and identify tactical product solutions.
Experience with appropriate design tools including Visio, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. in documenting site architecture, navigation, interaction flows, page-level feature and functionality.
Some level of experience in marketing high technology products to consumers.
