Position Description
This your chance to help shape the future of model-based design tools in the infrastructure industry. As a User Experience Manager for Autodesk Civil 3D, you will be leading a team of user experience professionals responsible for the interaction design, usability, and learnability of Civil 3D.
Responsibilities
Understand business & user requirements
Establish project goals and user experience objectives, which consider both interaction and learning needs
Iteratively design and evaluate solutions
Partner with other team members in product management, quality assurance, software development, and localization, to ensure project success and to meet business objectives
Review designs and plans to ensure high quality, ensuring your team applies user-centered design principles and design guidelines.
Organize and facilitate meetings with customers and internal stakeholders to investigate and identify customer needs, preferences, and priorities. Communicate and promote salient data from customer interactions as part of the overall design process.
Represent user experience in the definition of project scope and allocate team resources to achieve team milestones and deliverables on schedule
Translate high-level organizational goals to group and individual goals
Develop and manage a staff of user experience professionals, potentially including remote staff
Identify and implement process improvements that make the group more efficient and effective
Contribute to a culture of innovation and teamwork
Support the career development of team members
Meet regularly with peer team leaders and managers to stay informed of progress
Maintain ongoing awareness and involvement in product development and design activities around the company

Work with associates to design and implement individual development plans. Determine individual and team skill requirements, vulnerabilities and training needs. Seek opportunities that meet developmental needs of self or associates

Maintain a level of professional expertise through an ongoing program of formal training and individual study in the user experience field
An advanced degree in an HCI-related subject, or equivalent experience
7+ years of professional experience doing interface design and usability evaluation/research
Minimum 3 years of experience building and leading teams
Experience in managing and tracking large complex projects
Ability to think quickly and assimilate complex issues and ideas quickly
Excellent skills in problem analysis including the ability to identify and describe the "right" problem from a set of data of varying types
Ability to interact with and influence others effectively via excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and negotiation skills
Excellent written and verbal English and visual communication skills
Technical background and/or a demonstrable understanding of modern software development processes and concerns as they relate to design
