Junior User Experience Architect

Are you a user-interface-experience-information-architecture wizard? We have the perfect job for you IF:

• you’re ready to lead our clients through the process of understanding their audiences, uncovering the real story, and designing experiences that move people to act;
• you like working in small teams with peers. By “peers” we mean people who know their stuff and can be counted on to deliver. Not a lot of hierarchy or bureaucracy;
• the details never bore you;
• you want to live in a college town in the mountains, while working for world-class clients. Think “10 minute commute.”

For each project, you’ll work with a project manager who will be responsible for regular client communication, tracking status/timelines, budgets and various project details. The architect stays involved throughout the project to ensure that as the designs come together and development moves forward, the project is staying true to the original vision in every aspect. While keeping the client’s goals in mind, the architect is an advocate for the overall delight of the end-user.

Along the way, you'll use every tool in the UX/IA toolbox—including guerilla-style audience research, wireframes, prototyping, content editing, site audits, usability testing—whatever tool we need to help our clients tell their story with impact. 

NewCity is 19 people building web sites, web and mobile applications. Our clients include National Geographic, Imperial College London and Kiawah Island. We’re located in the Corporate Research Center adjacent to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. The CRC is home to over 130 technology companies with more than 2,000 total employees.
