Martha Stewart Living seeks an Interactive Designer to join the art department in pushing Living into the digital world. The ideal candidate is energetic, passionate, and knowledgeable about the latest technology trends and best practices, and has an interest in the Martha Stewart Living content areas and culture.
• As part of the art department, brainstorm with the food, craft, home, style, garden, and story editors to develop interactive ideas to add value to stories • Translate static print layouts to interactive digital designs using new Adobe tools • Develop relationships with other departments of MSL Omnimedia in moving forward in the digital realm • Keep up-to-date in the latest developments in app-creating technology
• At least 5 years interactive design experience • Online portfolio or digital body of work that shows attention to detail, an understanding of user-centered visual design and navigation, and story-telling skills • Able to work with production to develop interactive elements to stories from conceptualization to final piece • Expert in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator CS4, knowledge of CS5 is a plus • Solid background in graphic design and typography • Publication design experience a plus • Understanding of web and iPhone/iPad app usability principles and experience designing UI elements • Familiarity with parameters when designing for Flash and HTML 5 • Interest in and understanding of the Martha Stewart brand; experience in our cores (crafting, gardening, cooking, decorating) a plus • Create working mock-ups of your concepts a plus • Ability to learn new software quickly
