Yahoo! Inc. is looking for a Director of User Experience to lead the Design team for Yahoo! Network Services. This role would manage an international team of designers responsible for common components used across Yahoo!. This includes login, registration, Yahoo! Pulse and social tools appearing in mail and We are looking for a passionate and strong Design Director, who can think strategically while executing with a great eye for detail, to help us create integrated consumer experiences across Yahoo! products. Responsibilities include:

- Provide product direction and vision to your team of visual and interaction designers and deliver world-class user-experiences.
- Inspire, excite, and motivate your team, key stakeholders and executives
- Foster and support a collaborative, innovative culture
- Collaborate with other leaders in product, marketing, engineering, research, and the business to help make all of Yahoo! social.
- Work across the company to determine best practices and design standards
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously from planning to launch
- Define priorities and manage resources (both in the US and Asia) as appropriate across projects
- Manage and mentor designers: performance reviews, compensation and career growth
- Successfully communicate product and design strategies and concepts within the framework of a user-centered design process

Minimum Job Qualifications:

- Management experience: At least 10 years total experience, with a minimum of 5 years managing a large design team with company-wide impact. Must have managed an organization of at least 8 people with various UI and Visual Design skills.
- Leadership: Must know how to inspire people, motivate and reward them, and be able to make tough decisions and address issues in a timely manner.
- Technical skill: Must know how HTML, CSS and Javascript. This role must interface heavily with front-end developers from across Yahoo! and understand the technical constraints each Yahoo! product must work within.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Information Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, or similar degree. Advanced degree preferred.
- Design experience: Background in Product Design, Interaction Design, HCI, Information Design, or a related field. Must be well versed in all areas of UI design with a history of creating elegant and effective user experiences. Need to have superb information design sensibility and a sound understanding of how to leverage user research effectively.
- Business sensibility: Although a business degree is not required, it is required that candidates have a strong affinity with business and user metrics. Ideally you have experience working on websites that include monetization.
- Communication: Strong analytical and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; able to collaborate effectively with others in a cross-functional team
- Scope: Must have experience shipping products for large consumer audiences and be used to working on many products simultaneously.
- Process: Must understand user-centered design and product development processes, and use these effectively. Must be organized and able to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced and exciting environment.
