Robert has spent the past 18 years pushing the boundaries of digital products as a designer, writer, and consultant. He has led dozens of interaction design projects in domains including e-commerce, Web portals, desktop productivity software, authoring environments, medical and scientific instrumentation, wireless and handheld devices, kiosks, and consumer electronics for startups and Fortune 500 companies alike. Formerly Director of Design R&D at Cooper, Robert played a key role in the development and refinement of their goal-directed design methods, including personas and scenario-based design, and has lectured on these methods at major universities and to international industry audiences. He is a current member of the Information Architecture Institute (IAI) Advisory Board, past member of the Industry Advisory Board of the UC Berkeley Institute of Design (BiD), and co-author, with Alan Cooper, of About Face 2.0: The Essentials of Interaction Design.

David has been most active in Web-based application design for over ten years. His experience has included business-to-business exchanges, corporate information portals, complex collaborative business process engines, logistics systems, securities trading applications, and retail operations. David has been active on the UXNet Board and as part of the IA Summit planning committee. While David loves his work life and all the creative expression he is able to get from it, his life is also filled with other activities, most of which he does with his wonderful wife, Theresa and his son Caleb. Greg is a member of SAP's Design Services Team, a group formed to advocate design led innovation within SAP and with SAP customers.

His previous work experience as a practitioner of IxD includes positions as Associate Director Interaction Design at Modem Media, in Norwalk, Connecticut and Senior Interaction Designer and Information Designer at Vizrt, designing real-time information systems on projects for the New York Stock Exchange and the Securities Industry Automation Corporation. Greg has taught graduate-level courses at the University of California Los Angeles, in the School of Arts and Architecture, and the Parsons School of Design, Department of Design and Technology. Additionally, Greg is a licensed architect interested in how the digital world inhabits and forms the physical.

Joshua SeidenJoshua Seiden Portrait

Joshua Seiden manages the design group at Liquidnet (USA), an electronic brokerage firm serving institutional equity traders. Previously, he was the founder and President of 36 Partners, a NYC interaction design and user experience consulting firm. In the 90's, Josh served on the leadership team at Cooper Interaction Design. At Cooper, Josh worked on projects for clients such as IBM and 3M, and managed Cooper's SAP account. He has led training seminars in Cooper's goal-directed design methodology, organized the speaker series for IxDA NYC, and presented case studies and papers at a numerous conferences.

Liz discovered her calling as an interaction designer in 1999. That year, she joined Cooper, where she consulted on projects in domains from consumer Web sites to SAP systems to office telephones. As a supervising/principal designer with a theoretical bent, she also helped advance Cooper's methodology and practice. Since 2002, Liz has been at St. Jude Medical, a Fortune 100 company that develops implantable medical devices, where she leads user experience design work for complex software systems. In her hometown of Portland, Oregon, she organizes the IxDA Local Group to help foster professional development within our field, and is also an active participant in CHIFOO (an ACM chapter). The rest of Liz's copious free time is spent with her daughter Evelyn, born October 2006, as well as dreaming of her next autocross race..

Dan SafferDan Saffer Portrait

Currently at Adaptive Path, Dan previously worked at such companies as Organic and Datek and has a Masters in Design, in Interaction Design, from Carnegie Mellon University. He has worked with a wide variety of clients, from startups to Fortune 100s, designing Web sites, applications, and devices. He is also a member of AIGA and IDSA.

Niklas WolkertNiklas Wolkert Portrait

Senior Interaction Designer at Strand Interconnect, Sweden

After graduating in 1998 Niklas started in the web industry and after two years went on to spend five years in telecom as an in-house designer at several entities within the TeliaSonera group. At TeliaSonera he worked with interaction design and product management of applications for mobile devices, software, web portals and IVR systems. Lot of the time he also spent on design processes development. He is currently working as a senior interaction design consultant at Strand Interconnect AB for larger corporations and governmental institutes in Sweden.

Niklas has an MFA in industrial design and interaction design from Umeå Institute of Design in Sweden.

In May 2006 Niklas started the Swedish IxDA Local Group in Stockholm organizing lectures and workshops and within about a year has the community has grown to 150+ members. Niklas was also the initiator of the monthly IxD F2Fs in Stockholm called Thirdthursday.
