Initiatives
The Interaction Design Association (IxDA) already has two initiatives under development. Our dedicated teams of volunteers are currently working on the following initiatives:
If you are interested in volunteering to work on one or more of these initiatives, please send an email message to our volunteer coordinator.
Careers Initiative
Description
The Careers Initiative team is working to provide career-building opportunities for our membership. Its goal is to create services that will benefit consultants and contractors as well as those seeking long-term employment.
Status
The Careers Initiative is currently under development. The team has completed its proposal for our Jobs Board, on which
- employers will post staff and contract job listings
- members who are seeking either employment or consulting or contract work will post their resumes
Future plans include a Consultants Directory through which consultants will be able to offer their services to those seeking interaction design professionals.
We need additional volunteers to realize our plans for creating our Jobs Board and Consultants Directory. If you’re interested in volunteering to work on the Careers Initiative, please contact our volunteer coordinator.
Tools and Resources Initiative
Team Leader: Carrie Ritch
Description
The Tools and Resources Initiative team is working to make collections of member-contributed tools and resources for interaction designers available on our Web site. Through these collections, experienced interaction designers can share their knowledge and experience with the interaction design community, particularly for the benefit of newcomers to the profession. The team’s goal is to create collections of
- tools that assist interaction designers in performing their jobs efficiently
- standards, guidelines, and patterns that promote high standards of practice among interaction designers
- information resources that interaction designers would find helpful in developing and refining their skills
- information about the discipline of interaction design and its techniques and processes that interaction designers can use in promoting the profession within their organizations
As our organization’s membership grows and our industry evolves, these collections will expand and change to meet the needs of the interaction design community.
Status
The Tools and Resources Initiative has created both short-term and long-term plans for online collections of tools and resources. Our Resource Library is currently under development.
It’s our goal to provide the most comprehensive interaction design information resources on the Web, but we need more volunteers to make our plans a reality. If you’re interested in volunteering or want to contribute tools or resources to the Tools and Resources Initiative, please contact our volunteer coordinator.
