Survey: New or Existing?

Hi Folks:

Since we haven't really received much positive feedback or interest in the
concept of exploring existing organizations as possible homes for this
group, I've created a survey to gauge the group's position on the matter.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey asap:

We will share results when the survey is closed. Thanks for your

Interaction Design Group Newsletter 11.05.03

Welcome to the Interaction Design Group Newsletter. The newsletter will
be mailed twice a month (depending on volunteer availability) and will
include a progress report from the various taskforces and groups working
diligently toward the formation of our group.

We're very excited about the future of interaction design,
and want to make sure everyone knows that we are making progress.
Equally important, we want to remind everyone that this is not a closed
process and anyone can join the Working Group.

OO Interface Design

Broad question Andy.

What sort of 'thoughts' were you thinking of?

We work on web UI's as part of an object oriented development team (Java)
using the IBM AD Methodology.

Here's a couple of links that may help anyway:

Internal scrolling usability

I apologise now if this is too fine grained for this forum.

As a web ui developer I often come across the issue of displaying large
amounts of data on one page. Recent feedback suggested that some of our
users don't really mind internal scrolling as it keeps the surrounding
environment 'stable' whilst scrolling through large amounts of data (i.e. a

Distinction between visual and interaction design in wireframes Was RE:Prototypes as documentation?

Dan Brown ( came up with a solution to this
wireframe/visual problem years ago and I commented on it in my book
'Usable Shopping Carts'.

I believe he calls them Page Description Diagrams (though I was
trying to call them Wireframes 2.0)

The basis is that they list the elements (as usable bits) on a
gradient of importance, and the visual designers take it from there.

It's a great model of Wireframing.
