hi!

i'm having a application where a user can fill out a list. for example:
each list item is a text input field and a file upload field for a
photo.
the user can add new list items by clicking on a button.

now wondering how to deal with situations where the user
wrote text, selected a file for an existing item and then presses
the 'add new item' button, before actually saving the item she/he
just filled out.

adding a new item requires some server action to executed.

User Ratings, Reviews and Recommendations Questions

Hi all -

I'm looking for data and insights into UI issues related to user
ratings, recommendations and reviews of products services, travel
destinations, etc. (Epinions, Amazon, CNET, Yahoo! Movies,
Travelocity, etc.). I've attempted a literature review but not much
out there.

This topic covers alot of ground so here are a few things I'm interested in:

*What kind of symbols best communicate user ratings and what scale to
use (letter grades, 1-10, 1-5,
etc.)? Where to display the number of ratings and reviews?

Navigation metrics

Hi there,

I am doing some prototype testing on a set of navigation paradigms and
as a preliminary step, we are looking to narrow the candidates down
from about 7 to 3. We will be ranking each against a set of
qualitative metrics to make this reduction in scope more objective.

A little background: We have a suite of legacy desktop apps that were
first designed and built about 12-15 yrs ago. They were initially
built for the Mac, and later used the Altura libraries to port them
over to the PC.
