Open Personas could be a great resource for the community

Imagine if there were a repository of personas you could go to as a starting point for your own work? This was the idea that Steve Mulder and I had a few years ago. Now we are trying to make it happen. We need your help.

The ultimate vision is for a persona marketplace where people can submit personas they can share and browse personas that have been submitted. In the meantime, we'll post content in a blog format. We need volunteers willing to:

What's next for design education? A recap of the IxD13 Education Summit

If you missed the IxD13 Education Summit, I put together a recap of the ideas that came out of it. Lots of good fodder here for how IxDA could help improve design education, get it into schools earlier, etc etc etc.... Read the blog post.

Interaction Design methods library

About two years ago I came across a pretty exhaustive list of IxD methods, with advice on when to use them and examples of implementations. It covered prototyping, interviewing, ethnography research, information architecture, sketching, user testing, research analysis and synthesis, etc. - the whole shebang. It was nothing short of amazing, and yet I didn't bookmark it / lost the bookmark. Every few months I try to find it again. Really hoping I didn't dream the whole thing up. I faintly recall it being curated by a school, but that could be a red herring.

Just a brief reminder that our third and final card-sorting webinar is coming up this Thursday. It's free and covers a new approach to analysis to help you get the most from card sorting, whether from paper or online sorts.

Recordings and slides are available at www.syntagm.co.uk/design/cardsortvideos.shtml (there is also a link for registering for the remaining webinar on that page).

Content for a mobile site (cutting down content from web version)

Hello members,

the UX team is developing a mobile site (not responsive).

I, as a online campaign coordinator have to cut down content from the current website.

We have mobile phones on our pages with alot of marketing text, teaser text, product information etc.

My task is to decide on headlines for 4-5 toggles that will be clickable and the content for each toggle.

Do any of you have experience with developing content for a mobile site? Also, do you have any great examples to share?

Where to place testimonials

Does anyone have any input on the following?

We're looking at adding in testimonials to a website for a client who provides building services. We were thinking of either putting them alongside the projects in his portfolio, on a "testimonials" page, or both.

Does anyone have any data on how effective either or all of these are together or alone? More importantly, has anyone seen any research that says whether people look at a testimonials page or prefer them inline or look for a separate page?
