Your experience trying to connect a Bluetooth device

Hi list,

I'm interested in hearing thoughts about using Bluetooth devices. In
particular the part where you have just bought the thing and want to
connect/pair it with a PC or mobile phone.

Apparently this is an incredible hard thing to do for most people
(I'm a techie myself, so not really that representative):
- What is so bad about current solution?
- How could it be improved?

Anyone who have made some thoughts about this when dealing with a new
gadget? I know there is some work going on to improve it. But the
focus is mostly on the engineering part.

Kickstarter for a book about interaction design - only 2 weeks left

Hey all - I'm part of Chicago's IxDA chapter, and I'm in the
process of writing a book about interaction design. It's called
Cadence & Slang, and it should be out by the end of next year. I
posted earlier about this, but we've seen quite a lot of progress so
far, and so I figure it's worth an update here.

I've launched a Kickstarter project to fund its creation, at
http://nickd.org/x/cadence/ , which ends in only two weeks.

Question on brainstorming personas

I have a question on the methodology for personas -

I'm doing a project right now that we are trying to fastrack and get off the ground by doing some collaborative brainstorming with the product marketing folks. We haven't done any user research, have no budget for such research, we have no product requirements, etc. I'm supposed to have concept wireframes by mid december.

Survey regarding interaction design graduate education is still open.

Hi folks,

If you can spare 20min of your time, I'd really appreciate a bunch
more responses to my survey on interaction design graduate

While it is complex and long, I think it can help us all better
understand the needs of interaction design education. I plan on
making the data public later in the month of December.

Both educators and hiring managers can really benefit from this
information as interaction design matures and need for better trained
interaction designers increases.

You can find it at http://bit.ly/IxDEDU

Thank you,

Why the competition is for individuals?

I have been asked by quite a few folks now, can there be exceptions
for X or Y group b/c that school only does group work?

The answer has to be "No" at this stage in the game. I realize that
a lot of great designs will be missed through this process and maybe
we have learned some lessons along the way as this is the first time
we are doing this.
