History of Interaction Design training?

Hi folks,
I'm a sometimes member of this list so apologies for busting in
without having contributed for some time.

I'm writing an article for Interactions magazine and I would really
like to know how people are typically trained for interaction

I know the IxDA personas were based on a survey, though I haven't
seen the data, so don't know if they would answer my question.

Does anyone have any papers or surveys or data that might help me
answer this question?

[EVENT] IxDA NYC - Thu Nov 19 - Steve Portigal "...Improv, Creativity and Collaboration"

*IxDA NYC is pleased to present an interactive evening with Steve Portigal
*"Yes, My Iguana Loves to Cha-Cha: Improv, Creativity and Collaboration"*

Improv is not "stand-up comedy." It's a series of games with rules that
offer huge degrees of freedom within a set of constraints. In these games we
bring out a lot of basic, quickly understood and communicated rules of
culture that are implicit, not explicit.

Google Maps Navigation Beta on Android

This made my day today.

New version of Google maps navigation is pretty amazing. Take a look
at this techcrunch write up.

What is really amazing is to see google leverage search, voice, maps
together so nicely. Super disruptive. Garmin's market cap went down
1.2 billion today.

There must be an AR version coming soon.....

wonder how much of a dataplan you will need to support it?

Success criteria for accessability testing

Hello. I am about to begin designing a usability study on a government
website and evaluating the accessability of the site will be a big
component. I'm looking for advice on comparing data from the
visually disabled participants (using screen readers and magnifieers)
to participants with typical vision.
