Cascading Undo Model for a Blogging System

I am currently working on the design of a blogging system (ala
WordPress, Movable Type) as an exercise of my independent study. As
part of the design, I would like to design and implement an
application-wide cascading undo model such as the one described by
Jan Vratislav (http://bit.ly/UYerR) In this model, undos are based on
a "cascade" of hierarchal actions in the history, whereby a user can
selectively undo an action (which also undos every subsequent action
in that action's hierarchy).

Product Standard Guidelines

Hi there.
Does anyone know of a good resource which outlines basic product
standards for a website. (it's a very data heavy site)

I imagine it's easier to find more quantifiable items such as load
times and working across browsers, but I'd love to find something
that sets a minimum bar for clarity in the UI design.

We're looking for something which will help the engineering and QA
teams evaluate if the site is adequate from a IxD perspective.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Research into the experience of \"free trial software\"?

Where's all the research into the user experience around free trial
software? It's hard to believe that there's not been a good deal
of focused effort on understanding how to design the trial experience
to ultimately lead to a sale - I'm not finding it so far.

Maybe it's just thought to be obvious that you make it easy to begin
using the trial, easy to get "invested" in using it, and easy to
convert the trial into the "real" version of the software?
