Simple iPhone Wireframe Templates for Sketching

OK, so maybe it's not as slick & fun as Design Commission's stencil
(http://www.designcommission.com/shop/iphone-stencil-kit/), but in case
anyone is interested, I have created and posted some *very* basic iPhone
wireframe templates (3-up) for download by anyone who wants them from my
blog (PDF and Visio formats are in the .zip file):

Intranets: Portal and Portlets or Dashboards

I've been tasked with developing the requirements and UX for an
Intranet. The IT folks are talking about a portal model with the
multitude of legacy applications fully integrated as portlets.

I think that a personalized dashboards with single sign-on and links
to apps is OK with info feeds to the dashboard as appropriate.

My fear is that the portlet approach is too complex to successfully
design and implement. This sounds like the type of project destined
to fail. I was wondering if anyone has evidence-based POVs on Portals
vs. Dashboards from a UX / Usability / Project success viewpoint.

IA and copy plan templates in Excel

To date we've been creating site plans, wireframes, copy outlines and
functional specs across a range of different document types (word,
Excel, Illustrator, Omnigraffle).

This has generally worked ok over the years, but we're trying to up
our game and rationalise the tools we use - specifically site plans
and copy outlines.

We were thinking that a simple content plan created in Excel listing
section, pages and metadata along with project status is flexible and
team friendly (anyone can update without specific software), but not
particularly client friendly regards an aesthetic site plan.

On the topic of Recruiters

Ok, I just received the 2nd recruitment email for exactly the same job
from exactly the same recruitment agency.

I'm all for getting IxDAers jobs (who wouldn't be), but I'm not
convinced that recruiters should be able to post to the list.

Also, there is a difference between a company posting a opening
themselves (hopefully they're participating in the community
beforehand) and a recruiter posting a "mystery" job for someone else.

I feel that we should make a reasonable effort to keep a discussion
list for discussions....and filter out things that aren't.

So I wonder...

Applications w/ built in "Show me"/Learning Mode/Player Piano?

There's an older game that has an excellent example of something close to what you're looking for. It's called Homeworld.

complex applications have provided exactly this type of instructional
methodology. These expert systems will detect when a user is either
not following the prescribed process or seems stuck in a process or
