Using behavioral targeting to customize content

Hello,

At Scottish Television, we are actively exploring ways to serve up a
degree of custom content to every user the 'deeper' they travel
into our sites.

Taking a typical example of a user interested in football, we would
serve up more football related articles to that user. We would be
able to listen to the meta data on each article and page viewed in
the user’s journey, apply weightings and serve up more customised
pages.

As the user goes deeper into the site, we would narrow the focus of
articles and categories.

Incentives for UI testing

I am currently looking into different types of incentives for
participants who take part in our UI testing sessions, and would like
to know about other UX types' experiences and recommendations...

Does the type of incentive affect the quality and/or reliability of
the participants?

interested in your thoughts on this one...

The IxDA has a new local group, IxDA Northern NJ, which meets approximately
once a month in Madison, NJ. Our goal is to facilitate networking and
professional development for user experience professionals in northern New
Jersey.

For our September 30th event, we're planning a discussion about Web 3.0
buzzwords and the real phenomena that they refer to. Our facilitator, Yana

Looking for social media/social anxietyreference material

Just heard Don Abrahms from Social Technologies give a killer
presentation with some of this type of info. Might want to check with
them and see if they sell reports.

Also, Forrester/Gartner might have something useful given the "hotness'
of the domain.

Looking for social media/social anxiety reference material

I know there's a few people with a psych background of some sort and
many readers with a broad net around here so I thought I'd ask: Have
you heard of any research/researchers, articles, books, etc. dealing
with social media and social anxiety? General social psychology with
relation to social media would be useful too.

Is there a good reason to require people toidtheir credit card?

This was mentioned earlier, but of course you need to let customers know
what credit cards you accept well in advance of the checkout. For
example, when we did not used to take Amex on our site, I had companies
contacting me because they had got to the checkout and could not use
their company Amex card. The purchases were large enough that they did
not want to use their personal MasterCard or Visa. We had to arrange
payment through another process (PayPal or similar).
