IXDA at Burning Man?

Anyone on this list going to Burning Man this year? If so, email me and
maybe we can set up a IXDA event at Black Rock city if enough of us are
there. I will be at Camp HiLuxury at 4:30 Portal so drop by and say hello
even if we don't end up setting anything up.

Julie

Designers, Build your iPhone Apps with Corona

If you feel technically challenged to build iPhone apps yourself, then you
need to know about this new tool.

While Apple¹s SDK is accessible to engineers, we designers have to leave the
honorable task of developing an iPhone application that we thought out and
carefully designed to technical savvy hands. But times are changing as the
guys at Ansca, Inc (www.anscamobile.com) just released an iPhone SDK that is
accessible to us!

A suggestion to this mailing list

I'm glad to see that you're interested in improving the IXDA list. I
believe there a project underway to improve some sections of IXDA.

Tagging topics certainly seems like a good idea, but good subject titles
are important, too.

I think it's important to remember that the simplicity of this mailing
list (which is what this is, a plain ol' listserv) has been a key
success factor for growing IXDA.

I think services such as GetSatisfaction do a very good job of managing
discussions.

Persuasiveness of showing goals and rewards

Hi,

I'm looking for examples or research that either proves or disproves
my theory that showing a person goals and the rewards persuades them
to reach those goals.

What I have is an application where a user will have predefined
goals, from 0-100%, and at certain milestones they get rewards. For
example they may get rewarded at the 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%
milestones. I'm thinking that showing all the milestones and their
rewards would be better than just showing the very next milestone
(and its reward) alone.

I'm really looking for any research or books that cite research done
on this.

UX Presentation to the CEO?

Hi Navid,

I designed and gave just such a presentation recently to one of our
customers. I can't share the deck, as it is full of examples of
customer work, but I could probably share the outline that includes
all of my talking points if you would find that useful.

Best,
Jack

Interface Prototyping and Usability Testing

I'm currently in the process of developing a touch based interface
for AV system control. When deployed, the interface will be operating
on proprietry touch input hardware however I'm looking into
technologies I can utilize during the development and user testing
phase.

Users involved in the testing are geographically distributed so I'm
looking for tools I can use to quickly push out interface concepts
for feedback.

IxDA Boston Event September 24th: Designing for Life: A Lecture and Design Workshop.

Let's face it: The world is a pretty complicated place. As designers, we
play an increasingly important role in how that complicated world is shaped,
understood, and experienced by millions of individuals every day. The
software interfaces, web sites, physical products, and intangible services
we create have a huge impact on the way people live their lives.
