Interaction '09 Video: Robert Fabricant - Behavior is our Medium

Hi There,

I'm pleased to announce the launch of the IxDA Media Library, a place for
video and audio of IxDA events around the world, including the Interaction
conference and local events.

A few caveats: We haven't migrated your IxDA.org accounts to this system, so
to comment, you'll need to use OpenID, or create a new account on this
system. Once you've done that, you'll have an account you can use on the
other systems we build, including the Board Blog, and the next rollout of
our discussion platform.

Do you have a mental protocol that you follow to judge the quality of a design?

When you view a digital product or service do you have a mental
protocol that you follow to judge the quality of the design? Is this
a conscious act? Is it something you've developed over time? Do you
actively seek to improve your judgemental process?

Online Message Center Examples

Hi all - I'm looking for any resources, examples, literature,
articles etc. around the idea of an online message center.

eTrade and Wells Fargo (I'm sure others) use message centers in
place of direct email communication. This is a very powerful security
tool - all messages are posted in a central, secure area of their
websites and an email such as "you have a new message in your
inbox" is sent in place of the message itself.

I tried some Google searches but I'm not even sure what to call
this..

Thanks for the help!

The true focus of interaction design

Hi folks,

What the opinion of you about the true focus of interaction design?

I have seen several projects in the Master's programs that focus
only on the interaction between man and computer.

Developing an effective User Experience/Usability strategy

Is there any information out there on how to design/write an effective
UX/Usability strategy?

I believe there are no specific generic models out there for study (I am
probably way off on this).

Are there any existing resources OR is this an org specific thing?

The Save Icon "rut"

Has anyone seen any attempts to replace the standard floppy disk Save
icon? Seeing as most people haven't touched a 3.5" floppy in a decade,
is anyone addressing this archaic icon and how we can replace the
current mental model associated with it?
