[JOB POSTING] Web developers tag team required in bangalore

Hi

A US based startup is planning to open design and development center in
Bangalore and looking for a tag team of a backend and a frontend web
developer. Single entries are also allowed as long as you promise to be nice
to your team member :-).

Designing for Customers or Vendors - when Vendors pay the bills

Anyone know of any usability, design, or engagement studies dealing
with sites that have two sets of users? Here's the example: a new
web site that functions as a catalog for other companies. The
Customer is coming to look for products in general, and may never
have heard of (or care about) the Vendor.

The site makes its money solely from monthly fees from the Vendors.

Theories/principles in interface design

Other than Gestalt's principles what are some common design principles
that are based on human sensory perception (not just visual but also
memory, auditory, haptic etc.?)

Category: Holistic Design; Example: Everything is design
Category: Superficial Design; Example: Design is the paint job on a
car.

Online book club

This may have been previously covered in another thread, but would
anyone be interested in doing this online. I am not in a major city
where I can participate easily, but I was thinking something along the
lines of a Skype conference call (or IM chat room) as the central
meeting place?

I figure I can't be the only one on the list not near a major resource
of IxD/UXers.

Visibility of action - what is the best practice?

A while back I asked about affordances related to drag-and-drop.
Here's more of me trying to figure out the right ways to cue users for
certain operations that could work for drag and drop.

The interface in question has a hierarchical tree on the left. On the
right is a details area.

Because the user's tasks may require comparing details of several
items at once I want to enable people to move more than one item from
the left tree to the details area simultaneously.
