Yahoo! Pipes

Why have we not discussed this [http://pipes.yahoo.com] yet?
It looks hugely useful, I'd like to know how this community are using it
both personally and for projects.

Designing Gestural Interfaces (and Touchscreen Stencils!)

I'm very pleased to announce Amazon has started to deliver my new book
Designing Gestural Interfaces. It should also be on bookshelves
tomorrow (at least in the US and Canada).

In honor of this, I'm releasing some drawings my friend Rachel Glaves
did for the book, which are suitable for using in documentation.
Especially useful for those of us who can’t draw well, the drawings
are of hands performing common touchscreen gestures like tap, slide,
point, drag, pinch, and spread.

Interaction'09|vancouver Update!

Hi All,

We are 2 months away from Interaction'09|Vancouver. A couple of updates:

New this year will be the addition of a "Tangible Interaction Café". The team planning this environment has some surprises for all including a MS Surface Table. It will be a great opportunity for those of us attending to play hands on with emerging devices and meet each other.

If you are planning on going and have not signed up yet please do so soon. It will help the planning team with our final arrangements for the event. We have room for 600 this year (50% more space than last year).

Los Angeles UX Book Club

Have you heard? UX Book clubs are all the rage, and we'd like to join
in the fun here in LA. I know there are a lot of us UXers in LA, so
if you're interested in participating in some lively discussion,
please add your name to http://uxbookclub.org/doku.php?id=los_angeles.
We'll get more specifically organized when we reach a critical mass.

Thanks, and hope to meet you soon!

Marty Cagen Loves Us - UX Book club in SV

I am reading Inspired, and really pleasantly surprised about Marty Cagen's
passion for IxD, IA and UX in general. I decided I wanted to discuss that
with other UX peeps, and talk about why Product anad design are at each
other's throats so often.

"stop trying"

Hello there,

here is a challenge I'm going through in these days and that I would like to share and discuss with you.

I work on designing web ( and actually web 2.0) interfaces in a universal design perspective. This brings all sort of problems and challenges, testing products with all sort of users with all sorts of physical dis/abilities and, more than other, different approaches from people with different background.

I am actually testing a web service based on LifeRay with blind users.

Persona Creation and Roles

Hello again all,

Another question from the front lines reading through Steve Mulder's latest
(The User is Always Right) and some of the modemapping/mental modelling
(Mental Models - Indi Young's latest published by Rosenfeld) literature.
