Pencil: open-source wireframing Firefox add-on

Hi there,

I just found out about Pencil, an open-source wireframing tool that is available as Firefox addon (and standalone application). It looks very interesting and I love the fact that it's free. I have already mailed the author asking about possible improvements such as exporting interactive HTML pages or creating automatic annotation documentation. Obviously, I got my inspiration from Axure RP there.

Psych 101: The Psychological Basis for UI Design Rules
Jeff Johnson, UI Wizards

UI design rules are not simple recipes to be applied mindlessly. Applying
them effectively requires determining their applicability—and
precedence—in specific situations. It also requires balancing the
trade-offs that inevitably arise in situations when design rules appear to
contradict each other.

Secondary Research Methods

First time post!

Recently I've been reading / hearing / conversing about how to
identify your target demographic and what constitutes secondary
research and the difference between that and marketing.

I have heard several different views from clients / contractors and
employers from basically - the company does user research for
everything including information serach into the broad scope to
identify demographics and revenue - to that of marketing who
identifies the demographic and user researchers "deep dive" into the
user types, tasks etc.

Does anyone have any views

Web based project management

Hi,

Can you recommend a Web based project management software that we can
install on our internal Web server? Most Web based project management
tools that I have come across are service-based.

Thanks,
Oliver

The career path to ixda...?

I recently gave some advice to a young lady in NYC; interested in
pursuing a career as an Interaction Designer. This was admittedly
general and more limited to a nudge in a direction that would create an
avenue of information.
