Interaction Designer in new Ford Commercial

So I'm half watching the TV last night and I look up during a
commercial for Ford automobiles, and they are talking about their new
navigation system and the guy in the commercial (or an actor claiming
to be) says something along the lines of, "I design the user
interface. I like taking hard problems and making them simple for
people to use."

Needless to say, I almost fell out of my chair. Anyone else seen this
commercial?

Mini-rant: Register THIS!

This is sort of a spin-off of the discussion of business objectives in
design combined with a recent UIE note on "do I trust you". Sorry for
starting yet another thread, but I didn't want to derail the other.

I cannot possibly be the only person to experience this scenario(*):
1. Install new product on desktop computer
2. Get asked to register product. Agree. (Failure to agree turns the
product into 'nagware' that pesters me to register every time it
starts up or every 3 days, whichever comes first.)
3. Web page opens with a login form.
3a.

[EVENT] Podcast & Recap of the 1st Los Angeles IxDA meeting in over 2 years (April 23, 2008)

Hello Everyone,

A week or so back saw the first IxDA LA event in over 2 years and the first
one I've had the pleasure of instigating. I received a lot of support from
the event sponsor, HUGE, as wall as the other local leaders and the IxDA
board, so it wasn't too scary ;-)

The topic was "Methodology Madness" which featured 3 terrific local speakers
who talked about the methodologies they use and how their process has been
shaped by their environment:

- **Jaime Levy Russell - Experience Design Lead at HUGE
- Jens Jonason - Interaction Designer at Yahoo!
