Usability and Standards for Formatting Negative Numbers?

I am currently doing some research before I make a suggestion for how this
information should be displayed. Of the known formats I know that using
parenthesis () around the number or using the minus sign in front of the
number can be used. I have also seen both of these variations with the
numbers displaying in red.

I was just looking to get some feedback or possible resources that might
have more information or research that backs it one way or the other so I
can be more informed with this decision. Thank you for your feedback and
time in advance.

Funology in Interaction Design

I am trying to gather references, study material, examples in interaction
design on the theme - 'Funology in Interaction Design'.

I am trying to build on the Don Norman's philosophy of Emotional Design.

Any inputs will be useful.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Kunal.

Corners, edges and multiple monitors

Hi all,

Using corners and edges of the screen for different things can as we all
know be a great timesaver. However in the day of the multiple monitor we're
facing some new problems, screens do not have edges on all sides.

So I'm designing an application that uses the edges for some global
navigation (left, right, up, down on respective edge). When you hit an edge
there's an visual marker along that edge and if you click it activates the
navigation.

Another idea: Elastic Widgets for drawing wireframes easier

Hi everyone,

I'm very thankful for all the interest and feedback I have received from the
IXDA community about my table-based wireframe editor prototype. At the
bottom line, the initial idea has been criticized (justly) for its inability
to handle floating elements, which are common in Web 2.0 applications. On
the other hand, everybody liked the easiness of moving content assets
between table cells and the way how the assets got automatically aligned.

I have tried to combine the benefits of the two approaches (widget-based
editor vs.

The American People / Politicians = The Users / Developers (?)

Watching a YouTube presidential campaign clip the other day, the candidate
kept saying "The American People this" and "The American People that".

The way it sort of trilled off the tongue reminded me much of developers
saying "The Users this" and "The Users that".

We've all heard of or employed various ways to work the design past "The
Users" when creating software: user research, personas, inviting a couple
representative users onto the design team, etc.

Empathic design

Hello fellow members,
I would like to know how organizations view "empathic design". Is it
something that they take seriously?
What is your view on this form of working?

Kind regards

Ali
