Column Heading Alignment Rules for Placement ofData

I completely agree with the rules that Morten stated. On that note
however, I have a side question...

On columns that can be sorted:
1. Do you show an indicator as soon as the user gets to the page to
communicate which column is sorted?(even though in our case, it always
happens to be the first column) OR do you only show the indicator once
they've clicked a column header.
2. What direction should the arrow point if a column lists
alphabetically (A being at the top through Z being at the bottom)?

Study Reveals How Advertising and Voice Improve Mobile Search Experience

New York, NY - August 21, 2007 - Usable Products Company recently completed
an independent user experience benchmark on Mobile Search. Eighty
participants evaluated three text-based and one voice-enabled mobile search
solution resulting in several unexpected insights about the preferences of
today's mobile search users. Researchers were surprised that 79% of
participants favored advertising-supported mobile search, and 37% felt that
banner ads actually enhanced the mobile search user experience.

Usability Testing service providers in India (Bangalore)

Hey, Folks, (my apologies for the cross-posting)

Would you all kindly let me know the names of Usability Testing service
providers in Bangalore, India?

We are looking for the following services:
- Recruiting test participants
- Testing facilities and equipment
- Test moderator/facilitator
- Analysis and reporting
We want to test prototypes for a job recruiting/careers website we've
designed. Testing would be in November 2007, in Bangalore.

I seem to recall this topic has come up on one or more discussion lists, but
wasn't able to get details of those conversations.

Column Heading Alignment Rules for Placement of Data

Hey All,

I am working on the Web Application, which generates the Purchase orders and requisitions and maintains the Procurement services for Hotel Industry.

Application releases the Output is in the form of Reports While designing these reports,

I am facing small trouble; Need suggestion and views on it!!

a.. How does the content inside columns should be placed and aligned? If data consists Alphanumeric, Numeric and Quantity based data, example Dates, Phone number address and quantities (decimal units).
