forced choice widgets?

I have a workflow in which users can choose to move their data through
processes, A, B, and C. Internally the states are actually a
sequence. So if the person selects C we first move the data through A
and then B.

I could present this as a radiobutton list, e.g.:
o Fold
o Spindle
o Mutilate

If the person selects Spindle, we secretly fold the data first, etc.
The sequence is hidden. But
sometimes the processes fail, so a user who selected Mutilate will
find that his data Folded properly but couldn't be Spindled.

Announcing: Portland, OR F2F on May 30th

Hello my IxDA friends!

I'm hereby announcing the May Face-2-Face meeting in Portland, Oregon, USA
-- we're going to crash the IDSA Social event!*

Our last two F2F meetings have been focused on Case Study Workshop
discussions. But let's take a break from the program and meet some no-doubt
interesting colleagues in our sister discipline of Industrial Design! And as

How to consult as an IxDA?

I was recently asked how to get started doing contract/consulting work
as an IxDA (what type of business entity to form, what standard agreements to
use, etc.).

Does anyone know of a good reference site for this type of information? Any good pointers? I know this has been discussed before but I've never paid that much attention to it.

If you've got some time to kill.

Hello All:

I recently changed the format of my portfolio to a Wordpress blog
(from a cool, but difficult to maintain Flash site). I've also
updated the content in the portfolio and would like to get some
feedback (off list to avoid a crush of email in everyone's inboxes).
The majority of my work for the last year has been outside the more
normative forms of IxD such as interface design or IA, and I would
like some more seasoned opinions on the work.
