Photoshop Tutorial for UI design

Hi IxDAers,

I'm a recent graduate (master). My graduate program is more HCI theory
oriented and now I'd like to improve my practical skills to fit better in
the real world.

I was wondering if you can suggest some photoshop tutorials especially
targeted for UI design. I started to learn photoshop on my own through
Photoshop CS2 Bible, but it's too generic. I would like to learn how
designers in the industry prototyping with photoshops.

Thank you very much!

Value of utesting a client driven marketing site.

I'm currently working at an agency and am trying to figure out the
value of utesting in this environment. Our current process does not
include utesting of any sort. It's mostly client-driven design through
back and forth conversations.

For the client I'm working with, the site basically markets a product.
The creative thinking revolves around the marketing objective of
making their products appear to be top quality.

XGL Linux Desktop GUI

I came across this today via Digg.com.
it is a video presentation from a Linux developer who is demonstrating
some pretty neat graphic stuff using a Linux desktop with KDE and XGL.

While it is all impressive, I have some questions about the "why?"
factor and more importantly this multi-desktop cubing effect ... Is that
really something people would use?

Website content management and publishing tools

Have any of you used Open Source Content Management Systems such as Joomla for
building scaleable websites?

Recently I've noticed the popularity of web publishing tools such as Wordpress,
conventionally associated with blogs, being used to create full websites.
Scalability is achieved by treating every new entry as a new 'post'.

I'm curious to know which method works best in which situation.
