info. architecture evaluation survey

Dear Colleague,

We are conducting a study at the University of California, Berkeley to assess
automated tools for building category systems for search and browsing. To
this end we have prepared a questionnaire which concerns searches for recipes.
If you have experience conducting such searches, we hope you will participate
in this survey.

The questionnaire asks about the suitability of categories generated by two
different categorization tools. Your feedback will help us build an improved
tool for use across domains.

Broadband Video Help

Hi all,

We are starting a project testing the usability of broadband video. One of
the challenges that has come up during pilot tests is that viewing video on
certain web sites (CNN, video.msn.com, etc.) causes our internet connection
to flake out. This happens in Both IE and Firefox and our DSL Modem does not
seem to disconnect at any point. We tend to think that this is an issue with
our router as rebooting it fixes the issue until we access video on these
sites again. [Linksys Model BEFW1154, 4 port, 802.11b wireless .

Learning to design - critiques

Hi IxDers

I started today at a new contract leading a new UCD team on a hugely
important project. In doing so discovered that some of my team are fine
at UCD techniques (interviews, paper prototype testing, usability
testing) but are completely missing the vital element in the middle -
interaction design!

I have some strategies to work through this, and something I want to try
is to incorporate the idea of peer critiquing.

Finding a New/Used Ergonomic Chair Retailer in NYC & LI

Hey there.

I was interested in purchasing a good, new or used ergonomic chair for use in my home office. I'd like to find a brick and mortar retailer within NYC or Long Island so that I may test-drive a few before buying. Can you recommend a store I can visit that has a large selection of different types of chairs?

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Open Position for Flash Programmer/Animator (Mobile Phone Space)

In May I joined Boston-based SavaJe Technologies and we've got an
opening for a Flash programmer/animator position in our new Palo Alto
Design Center. We're in the mobile OS/UX space and looking for
someone with really sick (and demonstrable) device-scaled animation
skills.

Here's the press release that describes the office my longtime
consulting/venture partner Soudy Khan and I opened in the last couple
of months:
