NYC IxDA Local event on 11/29/05 Still has space thanks to Space Donation (read message)

On Nov. 29, the NYC IxDA Group has organized a special event, "IxD NYC
Style!" - a panel discussion (see attached event description below).

We had an almost instant sell-out response (we received 85 RSVPs for 50
spaces). The first 50 spaces went in 24 hours of our first announcement.
Since that day the organizing group has been scrambling to find a larger
space. We just didn't want to turn anyone away.

Today we are able to announce, that not only can we accommodate the existing
85 reservations, but we have additional space for another 35 people.

salary for starting interaction designer

Dear people,

This is not a job request or a "commercial", but a serious question. I (30 yrs) am a just graduated person which wonders how much salary he should get. These are my titles:

Master of Arts in European Media
Bachelor of Art and Technology in Interaction Design

Skills and background info:
I estimate my graphical design skills are little above the average of my ex-fellow-students. I always hear from people (some academic programmers) my programming is great. I learn new and different programming languages easy and fast.

Looks pretty interesting.
I really love the direction of going really digital. Photography is
still so damm old school. I mean I use a digital SLR as well but
besides the sensor there is nothing digital in there.

System Architecture and Usability

Hi All,

Here is Tog's comment :The great efficiency breakthroughs in software are to
be found in the fundamental architecture of the system, not in the surface
design of the interface.

And from a member: Google uses RAM all over the world to cache their data,
rather than hard drive retrieval.

My question: To what extent does an Interaction Designer suggest or discuss
the system architecture issues.
[Without political backlash if any...]
How do you change architectural decisions made early in Development to
provide better interaction, and how is it taken by the other teams.

AJAX for mobile?

Is anybody aware of any initiative around AJAX for WAP
or WAP 3.0 intiative?

With today's announcement of AJAX for Opera Platform,
it seems logical to me that AJAX for WAP is the next
logical step. Are there any initiatives around this?
