IxDG face-to-face at UPA conference?

Colleagues,

Quite a few of us will be attending this year's UPA conference in
Montreal in June. If you are interested in IxDG get together, write to
me in private, I'll coordinate our efforts. Any related suggestions
and requests are welcome (networking lunch, BOF session, pub crawling,
heated discussions, team bungee jumping).

It may seem a long way away, but it would be good to get a feel for
how many people are interested to see what can work most effectively.

Thanks,
Lada

‘Norman Doors’ in popular media/ culture

Hey Y'all,

I'm compiling a fun list of 'Norman doors' in popular media for my blog.
Two starters:

1. Seinfeld (Season:? Episode:?): George cannot open a condom packet(in
time).
2. Everybody loves Raymond (Season:? Episode:?): Raymond cannot open a CD
cover. Frank refuses to use any modern equipment.

Anyone already has such a list or interested in hunting for such?

Reset / clear button on a web form

Few years ago Nielsen wrote that reset buttons should not be used...
I generally agree.
The QA manager in my company treat it as a bug, so I thought I will
recheck what others are doing...
We have about 25 fields in the form, should I consider a clear button?
I don't think users use it, anyone with a research or testing or just an
opinion on this issue?

Thanks,
Nurit

Dilemna between consistency and efficiency

Hello,

I've got this little dilemma :

Basically, I deal with a user task which frequency is low, but very
important to configure and updating the system. This task includes two
sub-tasks:
1--> a multiple selection in a large set (>50) where the average
selection number is 5 to 15 items. Each items have some meta-data that
can be useful to the user to make its choice.
2--> a multiple selection a a small set (<10) when the average selection
number 1 to 3.

Looking for visual designer for mobile device?

Hi,

I am looking for recommendations of contract visual designers for visual design on a handset.

Specifically they must have previous UI design for handsetswith an emphasis on visual design and creative direction. I am looking for somebody that has several years experience, some experience with either working for a design firm that specializes in mobile device design, or with experience in a corporate setting around mobile device design, and understands the nuances of visual design and usability issues specific to designing interfaces for mobile phones.
