Company-wide UX Event Ideas

We want to hold a company-wide UX event/workshop to inform and educate those around the company (esp. developers, business/product owners, and managers) about the benefits of UX. What is it? Why should we care? What can it do for us? etc.

Simplified Chinese on LCD-Screen

First of all I "found" this perfect group of interface and interaction designers just a few days ago and I'm glad that others are running into the same problems and issues as I do (wireframeing, etc.).

Re: [IxDA] Editing multiple items from a list

Hi Jon,

Your approach doesn't sound that awful. Checkboxes in a table are how most web-based email works, and most people today are familiar with email.

Many workflow applications like publishing or shipping, where users select several items and then update their status, behave in a similar manner.

How many different reasons are there? If it's only a few and they're short enough, they could be buttons. Think of Gmail: select and click Mark Read. How often do people need to describe an "other" with a custom reason?

Editing multiple items from a list

I'm working on a feature that would enable people to apply the same "response" / "reason" to multiple items that they select from a list and looking for some help!

The basic idea is this:

UX Go/No-Go Criteria for Application Launch

I'm looking for industry standard criteria for assessing an application's readiness for release (launch), specifically from the interaction design perspective. This set of criteria will be rolled up into an overall Readiness checklist for the application launch.

Is there a standard set of criteria out there OR has anyone had to create such a list?

Congratulations to...

...anyone?

I know the rejection letters are out...who had a session accepted for #ixd11?  I want to be happy for someone, instead of just sad for myself.

HFI Training Courses (particularly "Design for the Big")

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has been on any training courses run by HFI (Human Factors International) and whether they were any good? I'm particularly interested in the upcoming 'Design for the Big' course. However, with limited training budget and time, I need to be pretty sure of the quality before making the commitment.

Have you been on an HFI training course? If so, which one? Anyone been on the 'Design for the Big' course? Was it any good?

Any insights greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Debate launces because of latest Medal of Honor video game

The video game series "Medal of Honor" has been in need of a reboot after a successful run. Nevertheless, the newest video game in the series has ignited some fiery debate. The games are set in World War II, as a first person shooter. This could be the first not set in that war. Though not new to video games as a whole, the new "Medal of Honor" is set in Afghanistan. In multi-player mode, gamers can be either coalition forces (United States of America, U.K., etc.) or the Taliban in "Medal of Honor 2010." The video game is opposed through numerous.
