Join us at 7pm next Tuesday, June 8th at PARC in Palo Alto, CA for an evening with User Experience experts from Cisco, hosted by Lin Brown, Ph.D., Cisco User Experience Director
User Experience experts from several Cisco teams will discuss
design techniques and lessons learned in applying today’s and
tomorrow’s technologies to collaboration. These technologies will change
the way we work, play, live, and learn. By designing great
collaboration user experiences, BayCHI UX professionals are playing a
part in changing the world.
Hi IXDA, This is my first post, and I am new in the field of UX.
Background: My profession is graphic designer, webdesigner and front-end developer for several years but I lately got alot of interest in UX-design. Not only does this help me alot in my design process but it also creates a better experience for the users, greater references for me and happy clients.
I'm currently based in the Philippines / Hong Kong and am heading back to London (I'm British) in a few weeks when I've wrapped up work here. I should be here Monday 3rd June and I'd like to attend the next IxDA meeting in London to meet you guys and network.
My questions are about London: What's the work situation like there? And who are the best people to contact?
By now, I’m sure we all must have noticed the new design that Google recently rolled out. I somehow feel that the left hand sidebar filters can be designed better. Even the transition from more search tools to fewer search tools does not seem to be very smooth. Google has been experimenting with this sidebar for many months now. I wish if there was an option to “turn off” this new sidebar. Though I really like the way more filters are given in search categories such as Images, Books etc. Especially the color and type search in images is absolutely fundu.
Hello everyone I am a recent Master degree graduate in interior design with a project oriented toward interaction design experience.
I wish to pursue my PhD degree preferably in UK or in any other countries but would need your suggestions for universities offering PhD in interaction design with a possibility of orienting the subject towards interior Design ????
Umeå Institute of Design (http://www.dh.umu.se) announces four new PhD positions. The PhD positions are within the fields of industrial design and mobile interaction design. The application deadline is May 12th 2010.
Please visit the specific pages for further details about each position:
I know there has been prior discussion to some aspects of what I am going to ask, but the background is a little different this time.
-After a Masters in Computer Science, why should one pursue Masters degree in Interaction Design or Information Design? At a more abstract level, why are design studies essential for
Software or Computer Science guys?
- Isn't it possible for a Software guy or a Computer Science guy to get the required knowledge in the areas of Information design and/or Interaction design with experience?
I´m going to write an article about the influence of interfaces and interactions from hollywood movies for interaction designers. I found a really nice paper about it: www.butz.org/publications/papers/hci-scifi.pdf
