Whether you’re new to the field or you’re a design industry professional, UX Brighton 2011 is a great opportunity to debate, cogitate and learn about User Experience through the lense of various disciplines stretching from anthropology to cross-channel design.
I am designing a website, which links off to many microsites (e.g., product, promotional, etc.) that the client would like to keep intact. Many of these microsites can be assessed through contextual navigation on an appropriate page, but some warrant global access. Would it be appropriate to link these within extra site navigation? The only problem is that extra site navigation seems to work best when it links to other properties/companies (ex: sears.com, att.com, google.com) as opposed to product/promotional microsites.
I am looking for websites that do not display navigation (in the traditional sense) on the homepage. Yes, any link could be considered navigation but I am specifically looking for sites that lack navigation until the user is deeper within the site structure.
What are your thoughts on this presentation? Could this be a jarring or unexpected experience?
