Looking for Guidance

I am glad that I have found this portal. I am a Industrial Designer and I was laid off in 08.

I have not even had one interview for a job in my field. I was going to take advantage of

some of the training funds available. I am considering a certification offered at NCSU for

web developer. It seems to be a lot to cover in 3 months. Is this something that will put

me in demand with my design background? I have also considered working on a Phd.

I aspects of user centered design and interface design. Input would be a great help.

Any recommendation for master programs NOT requiring design/computer background?

It's my third year in Business School.  I have no design/ computer background.  However, I want to apply a master program of Interaction Design or User Experience Design.  I just know CMU's Interaction Design does not require design background.  Do you know any other universities have this kind of program?

You may only experiment new graphic styles; but not more then that…  Regardless, your boss, your customers or the users still demand on your innovations to be impressed, but it isn’t so easy as before.

Useful workshop methods for students

I´m currently studying Digital Media at the international school of Hyper Island in Stockholm, Sweden.

Me and some fellow students feels very passionate about interaction design but are missing it in the schools curriculum, and we are now starting up something what can only be described as the Dead Poets Society, but for interaction design.

Teaching Interaction Design

I will be teaching an Interaction Design course this summer. I want to make sure my students will get practical, up to date and actionable skills they can take out to the world after they graduate so, my intention is to have them work on as many portfolio projects as time allows and work together on small teams.
So I can give them the broadest view I wanted to get some feedback from the community on:

1. ideas or themes for projects

Study IxD - What are my options?

Hi there,
I am so happy I found this place and believe that I will finally find
answers to my zillions of questions ;)

I have a degree in media management (which is like business
administration for media companies) and currently work as a product
manager for an innovative online company in germany. As product
manager I constantly do concepts about our websites and features, so
I already have professional experience in the area of interface and
web design.

I always had a huge passion for design, internet and photography. And
now I want to commence my educational career in this area.
